Sha’Carri Richardson Spotted wearing a Customized Nike Sneaker Top for team USA’s Olympic Gold Win
Sha’Carri Richardson Custom Nike Sneaker Corset After Winning Olympic Gold for Team USA
After claiming her first Olympic gold medal on Friday during the United States women’s 4×100 relay victory, sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson made another fashion statement on Saturday while watching Team USA men’s basketball.
Seated courtside with celebrities like Carmelo Anthony and Jimmy Fallon, Richardson wore a matching denim jacket and jeans, paired with a striking red Louis Vuitton Speedy P9 bag designed by Pharrell Williams. However, it was her custom-made corset, crafted from deconstructed Nike Dunk sneakers, that caught the attention of fans on social media.

The unique top was designed by Cierra Boyd, known on Instagram as @friskmegood, who specializes in transforming footwear into fashionable clothing. Boyd’s online store features sneaker corsets made from popular shoes like the Air Jordan 1, Nike Dunk, Nike Air Force 1, and Nike Air Max 1, with prices ranging from $225 to $325.
While most of Boyd’s designs utilize a single sneaker style, the custom piece created for Richardson incorporated multiple colorways of the Nike Dunk Low, including the “Medium Curry,” “Medium Olive Hemp,” and “Cacao Wow” varieties. Boyd shared a behind-the-scenes look at the creation process on Instagram, revealing that 12 different earth-tone Nike Dunk Lows were considered for the project. She also mentioned designing matching bottoms for Richardson’s look, though these were not shown.
Though the details of Richardson’s Nike sponsorship remain undisclosed, there is widespread speculation that it is a highly lucrative deal. Richardson has been prominently featured in several of Nike’s recent campaigns, including the Jacquemus x Nike Spring 2024 collaboration and the “Winning Isn’t for Everyone” campaign.
Richardson stood out again during the U.S. women’s 4x100m final on Friday, where she wore a pair of Nike Maxfly 2 track spikes in a bright “Electric Green” shade, complete with Nike’s safari print. While many of her teammates wore the spikes in an “Electric Orange” color, Nike provided Richardson with her own exclusive colorway.
On Saturday, Team USA’s men’s basketball team defeated France 98-87 to secure their 17th Olympic gold medal. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the U.S. women’s basketball team narrowly beat France 67-66 to win their eighth consecutive gold medal, making history as the first basketball team to achieve this feat in the Olympics.
