Netflix has announced a new biographical comedy series based on the life of legendary Scottish comedian Billy Connolly. The series, set to premiere in 2025, promises to deliver a humorous and heartfelt portrayal of Connolly’s remarkable career and personal life.

Titled “The Big Yin,” the series will explore Connolly’s rise to fame, from his early days in Glasgow to becoming one of the world’s most beloved comedians. The show will feature a mix of drama, comedy, and documentary-style interviews.

“We’re thrilled to bring Billy’s incredible story to life,” said Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content. “His wit, resilience, and kindness make for a truly inspiring narrative.”

Connolly, who has been open about his struggles with Parkinson’s disease, has given the project his full support. “I’m delighted to share my story with Netflix,” he said. “I hope it makes people laugh, cry, and maybe even inspires a few.”

The series will be written by Scottish screenwriter and comedian, Ford Kiernan, and directed by BAFTA-winner, Neil Biswas.

“The Big Yin” promises to be a hilarious and moving tribute to Connolly’s legacy, cementing his status as one of comedy’s greatest icons.
