Rafael Nadal Announces Retirement from Tennis After Davis Cup in November
Rafael Nadal, the 38-year-old tennis legend, has revealed he will retire from professional tennis following Spain’s Davis Cup Finals in Malaga this November. Nadal, who boasts 22 Grand Slam titles, including a record-breaking 14 French Open victories, shared the news via a video message on X.
In his message, Nadal stated, “I am here to inform you that I am retiring from professional tennis.” He reflected on the past few years, admitting they have been challenging due to injuries and physical limitations that hindered his play. “It’s obviously a tough decision, but I believe now is the right moment to end a career that has been far more successful than I ever dreamed,” Nadal explained.
Throughout his career, Nadal has dealt with various injuries, missing major events like the 2023 French Open and facing an early exit in the first round this year, where he was defeated by Germany’s Alexander Zverev. His last major triumph came at the 2022 French Open, capping off his remarkable career at Roland Garros with an astonishing 112-4 win-loss record.
Nadal also expressed his excitement to conclude his professional journey while representing Spain in the Davis Cup. His final appearance on the tennis court comes after his last match at the Paris Olympics, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the singles and reached the doubles quarter-finals with Carlos Alcaraz.
