Eli Tomac Voices Uncertainty About Competing in the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship
Eli Tomac Expresses Doubts About Returning for the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship
Eli Tomac, the iconic Supercross and Motocross champion, has announced his return for the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. However, despite his excitement about another title run, Tomac has hinted at mixed emotions regarding his decision to compete in what is set to be his final professional season.
Tomac’s return comes after two injury-ridden seasons, where he was forced to exit before the end of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross championships. Reflecting on those challenges, Tomac acknowledged that although he’s excited to be back, there were moments of hesitation before deciding to return.
“I’m very pleased to be back with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing for the 2025 season, but I did have a lot to think about,” Tomac admitted. “The last two seasons have had unfortunate endings with injuries, and that gave me some double thoughts about returning. However, the drive to compete and win more titles ultimately convinced me that now is the time to enjoy the ride and get back to racing.”
Tomac’s journey with Yamaha has been highly successful, including championship wins in both 450SX and 450MX during his debut season with the team in 2022. But injuries, including one sustained in the penultimate round of Supercross, have been a recurring obstacle. These setbacks contributed to Tomac’s doubts about returning for one final season. Still, his desire to add to his already remarkable legacy helped him make the decision to give it one more shot.
Jeremy Coker, Star Racing’s 450 Team Manager, acknowledged Tomac’s reservations but fully supported his return. “We understand that Eli had to carefully consider his decision after the challenges he faced, but having him back for 2025 is incredible news for the team. We’re committed to helping him end his career on the highest note possible.”
Tomac’s legacy in the sport is already etched in history, with eight combined titles across AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross, and a record seven Daytona Supercross wins. As he prepares for the 2025 season, fans and the racing community alike are eager to see him take one final run at greatness, even with the uncertainties he has faced.
As Tomac prepares for his final season, he remains focused on making the most of it, leaving fans wondering just how far he can push himself in 2025. Though his doubts were real, his determination to compete for the SuperMotocross title is stronger than ever.
