
Matterhorn Design Bridge To Honour Native Ulrich Inderbinen Linking Across Major Cities
The iconic Matterhorn will soon be connected to the remote city of Zermatt via a new bridge, aptly named the Ulrich Inderbinen Bridge. This tribute honors the legendary Swiss mountaineer who dedicated his life to the majestic mountain.
Ulrich Inderbinen, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 104, left an indelible mark on the Alpine world. His remarkable career spanned over six decades, during which he climbed the Matterhorn an unprecedented 370 times.
“The Ulrich Inderbinen Bridge will serve as a lasting tribute to a man who embodied the spirit of adventure and dedication,” said Zermatt Mayor, Romy Biner. “His legacy will continue to inspire generations of mountaineers and tourists alike.”
_Construction to Begin in 2025_
The bridge project, scheduled to commence in 2025, will:
1. Enhance connectivity between the Matterhorn and Zermatt.
2. Improve accessibility for hikers and mountaineers.
3. Boost tourism in the region.
The bridge’s design incorporates sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and panoramic viewing platforms offering breathtaking views of the Matterhorn.
