Lewis Hamilton Ferrari contract details emerges ‘more than Mercedes’ claim
Details of Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Contract Revealed: ‘More Than Mercedes’ Speculation
Nearly a year ago, Lewis Hamilton stunned the racing world by announcing his departure from Mercedes, the team with which he clinched six of his seven World Drivers’ Championships, to join Scuderia Ferrari.
Since then, speculation about the specifics of Hamilton’s contract with Ferrari has been rife. A recent discussion on the *James Allen on F1* podcast has shed some light on the potential terms of the deal, offering insights into what Hamilton’s move entails.
As a seven-time World Champion, Hamilton commands a substantial salary. His switch from Mercedes to Ferrari was unlikely to involve a significant pay cut, given his high market value. When news of his 2025 contract with Ferrari broke, the motorsport community buzzed with questions: How long would Hamilton commit to Ferrari, especially with his 40th birthday approaching? And what kind of financial package would he receive?
Early reports speculated that Hamilton could earn an astounding $400 million during his tenure with Ferrari, a figure that, while impressive, would still trail behind contracts secured by sports superstars like Shohei Otani and Lionel Messi.
In January, Formula 1 journalist Ben Hunt joined the *James Allen on F1* podcast to discuss Hamilton’s future, including the details of his Ferrari contract. Allen suggested that Hamilton’s choice was driven by where he believed he had the best chance of winning championships in the coming years, and he chose Ferrari.
Hunt added, “You could be right, and they’re paying him more than Mercedes were. I’ve seen figures between 50 and 55 million a year being speculated.”
While Hunt didn’t specify the currency, the amount is significant. At Mercedes, Forbes estimated Hamilton earned around $55 million in 2024. Though the precise details of Hamilton’s Ferrari contract remain unclear, a clearer picture is gradually emerging, suggesting the deal is as lucrative as expected for one of Formula 1’s most accomplished drivers.
