Jeremy Clarkson has issued his boldest F1 prediction yet ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s first season at Ferrari
Jeremy Clarkson Questions Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Move Ahead of 2025 Season
Jeremy Clarkson, former *Top Gear* host and longtime Formula 1 fan, has made his boldest prediction yet as Lewis Hamilton gears up for his highly anticipated debut season with Ferrari.
Hamilton shocked the F1 world in February last year when he announced he would leave Mercedes at the end of the 2024 season, ending his long-standing partnership with the team that brought him six of his seven World Championships. The 40-year-old driver confirmed he would join Ferrari for the 2025 campaign, teaming up with Charles Leclerc.
This week marked a major milestone in Hamilton’s new chapter, as he arrived at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello and got behind the wheel of a Scuderia Ferrari car for the first time during a test session. The Brit described the experience as “one of the best feelings” of his life, recalling the excitement of his early days in Formula 1.
“When I started the car up and drove through that garage door, I had the biggest smile on my face,” Hamilton shared. “It reminded me of the very first time I tested a Formula 1 car.”
While fans and analysts expect Hamilton to bring his competitive edge to Ferrari, Clarkson has voiced doubts about the driver’s ability to compete at the highest level, citing concerns about his age.
In a column for *The Sun*, Clarkson reflected on Hamilton’s recent performances, stating, “Lewis Hamilton is past his prime. He blamed his car for poor qualifying sessions last season, but his teammate, George Russell, managed to outperform him on the same machinery.”
The 64-year-old went on to joke that Mercedes might have sabotaged Hamilton’s car ahead of his departure, but added, “It’s far more likely that he’s just too old now to compete at the very top.”
Despite Clarkson’s skepticism, Hamilton is determined to make his mark with Ferrari and prove his critics wrong. The 2025 F1 season will officially kick off with the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park on March 16. All eyes will be on Hamilton as he begins his journey with the legendary team, aiming to rewrite history and silence the doubters.
