Netflix Exposes the Chaos and Genius Behind Guns N’ Roses’ Slash
Netflix Announces Raw and Riveting Docuseries on Guns N’ Roses Icon: SLASH
Title: SLASH: Strings, Shadows & Survival
Genre: Documentary / Music Biography
Netflix is turning up the volume with its latest music documentary announcement: SLASH: Strings, Shadows & Survival— a deep dive into the life and legacy of Saul Hudson, better known to the world as Slash, the legendary guitarist of Guns N’ Roses.
With his signature top hat, sunglasses, and Les Paul guitar slung low, Slash became one of the most instantly recognizable figures in rock ‘n’ roll. But behind the image and guitar solos lies a story far more complex — one of quiet genius, addiction, survival, reinvention, and resilience.
A Story of Talent, Turmoil, and Transformation
The multi-part docuseries traces Slash’s journey from his British-American roots and unconventional childhood in Los Angeles to the meteoric rise of Guns N’ Roses — one of the most explosive and unpredictable rock bands in history. Featuring never-before-seen footage, intimate interviews with bandmates (past and present), music industry legends, and Slash himself, the series explores the highs of global fame and the lows of addiction and internal band chaos.
Netflix promises an unfiltered look at the chaos that surrounded Appetite for Destruction, the monumental debut album that changed rock music forever, and the behind-the-scenes struggles that almost tore the band apart. From feuding with Axl Rose to rebuilding his life through Velvet Revolver and solo projects, the series showcases a man who never stopped chasing the sound in his soul — even when it nearly killed him.
An Introspective Slash
For the first time, Slash opens up in ways fans have never seen. The docuseries doesn’t just focus on the music — it explores the person behind the riffs: a shy, introspective kid who found escape through guitar strings and was thrust into the center of rock’s wildest decade.
“This isn’t about glamorizing the chaos,” Slash says in the trailer. “It’s about showing what it takes to survive it.”
Produced by Rock Veterans
Produced by Oscar-winning documentarian Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?), and with Slash’s full cooperation, the series promises an authentic portrayal of a guitarist who became more than a rock icon — he became a survivor, and a symbol of passion and perseverance in an industry that eats its young.
