Netflix Announces Motionless In White Docuseries

Entertainment Article

Netflix Announces Raw, Unfiltered Rock Doc on Motionless In White: “Scars and Screams”

From rejection to resilience — the story of metalcore’s most theatrical outsiders is finally hitting the screen.

Netflix is adding more black eyeliner to its rock documentary lineup with a dark, unfiltered deep dive into one of the most misunderstood forces in modern metal: Motionless In White.

Titled “Scars and Screams: The Motionless In White Story”, the limited series promises to trace the band’s evolution from small-town misfits to genre-defying icons, blending horror visuals with emotional vulnerability and sonic intensity. From the outside, they looked like shock rockers — but this documentary pulls you into the beating, bleeding heart behind the makeup.

More Than Aesthetic

Formed in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 2005, Motionless In White carved their own path during the rise of MySpace-era metalcore. With their gothic-industrial aesthetic, emotional honesty, and fearless genre crossovers, they were often dismissed by critics but adored by a growing cult following of outcasts and survivors.

In “Scars and Screams,” Netflix explores how the band built a brand — and a brotherhood — on pain, perseverance, and pushing back against conformity.

“We weren’t trying to fit in,” says frontman Chris Motionless in the trailer.
“We were trying to survive. And somehow, people started to listen.”

The series will chronicle the early days of relentless touring, lineup changes, personal struggles, and the near-breakups that almost silenced the band forever. With behind-the-scenes footage spanning over a decade, Scars and Screamscaptures key moments in their rise — from performing at Warped Tour to selling out their own international headline shows.

It also takes fans inside the creation of albums like Creatures, Graveyard Shift, and Scoring the End of the World — records that served as lifelines for thousands, tackling themes of trauma, depression, social anxiety, and resilience.

Visually Striking, Emotionally Raw

Directed by acclaimed visual storyteller Lulu Rodrigues, the doc is as much a visual experience as it is a narrative. Drawing from the band’s horror influences and stage theatrics, the series promises stylized recreations, archival footage, and raw personal interviews — including moments never before shown to fans.

Expect to see everything from onstage chaos and fan tattoos to quiet, reflective scenes revealing the psychological toll of chasing survival through sound.

👁️ For the Misfits — Then and Now

“Scars and Screams” is more than a band documentary — it’s a portrait of outsiders who refused to be erased. It’s for the kids who found healing in a breakdown riff. For the ones who painted their faces to face the world. For anyone who’s ever felt too loud, too weird, too broken — and learned that maybe that’s what makes them powerful.

“Our fans didn’t just listen,” says Chris. “They related. That’s the difference.”

The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix this fall, with four episodes streaming globally. A companion live album and exclusive merchandise drop are expected to follow, giving longtime fans a new way to reconnect with the band’s legacy.
