Trevor Lawrence Injury Update: When Can the Jaguars’ QB Return
Following what appeared to be a scary ankle injury earlier this week during ESPN’s Monday Night Football game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s status has improved. Pederson, the Jaguars’ head coach, has not ruled out Lawrence playing this Sunday.
Lawrence was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, which typically keeps players out for several weeks. Pederson, however, told reporters this morning that Lawrence’s status “will be determined by how practice goes today,” according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
According to Rapoport, Pederson responded “probably so” when asked if Lawrence will enter the weekend with an injury designation, making him a game-time decision.
The fact that Lawrence has returned to practice so quickly and may even play this Sunday bodes well for the Jaguars’ playoff chances moving forward, even if he does have to miss this week’s game.
Lawrence, who is currently 8-4, is eager to return to the field as soon as possible as the Jaguars seek an AFC South divisional title and a berth in the NFL playoffs. Not to mention, they are only one game behind the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins for first place in the AFC and have a bye week in the first round of the playoffs, giving Lawrence more time to recover.
With the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans trailing the Jaguars in the AFC South by one game, Lawrence is under even more pressure to return to the field and help the Jaguars win games.
