After Liverpool’s & Man United draw,Virgil van Dijk gave an interview that enraged Roy Keane.
Virgil van Dijk slammed Manchester United’s strategy against Liverpool, claiming that only one team was “trying to win” in their 0-0 draw.
After a frustrating afternoon, the Reds captain claimed that March’s emphatic 7-0 win over the Red Devils is now merely obsolete.
It was a missed opportunity for Liverpool, who had the chance to return to the top of the Premier League table against an out-of-sorts Manchester United team. Jurgen Klopp’s team dominated play but were poor on a bad day.
Following their comeback win over Brentford on Sunday, Arsenal regained their lead at the top of the table, with Aston Villa drawing level on points with the Reds.
“100%. If you look at how we played the game, you’ll notice that we had the majority of the ball and created some opportunities. “There was only one team trying to win the game,” Van Dijk explained.
“Of course, we want to win every game, which is why it’s frustrating.” We sometimes shot too easily and could have avoided the overlap. Sometimes the right decision was missing.
“Of course, we continue, but it’s frustrating because we were superior in every way.” Finally, they are buzzing about a point, and we are disappointed about a point.”
Erik ten Hag, the manager of the Red Devils, has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks as their poor form has been compounded by a 3-0 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth.
Bayern Munich’s midweek victory at Old Trafford dropped United to the bottom of Group A in the Champions League. Liverpool were heavy favorites going into Sunday’s game, but Van Dijk was disappointed with his team’s performance.
“Clearly, they are not in the best of health. You’ve come here because you’re concerned about the threat we face. We should have won it by now. We must learn from certain situations, and I am confident that we will,” he added.
“Last year we didn’t come in with a good feeling towards the Manchester United game but we won the game convincingly, but last year doesn’t count now.”
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was enraged by the interview, labeling Van Dijk “arrogant” for his remarks.
