Klopp says Jota will be out for “months” as Liverpool’s injury problem worsens.
The 4-1 victory in London on Saturday was bittersweet because both midfielder Curtis Jones and attacker Jota were substituted off within the first half.
After suffering an ankle injury, Jones walked out of the stadium on crutches, Jota exited on a stretcher, and forward Darwin Nunez was also taken out with a knock.
Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are still out of the game, and goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Dominik Szoboszlai will be absent from Liverpool’s home game against struggling Luton on Wednesday at Anfield.
With his club leading second-place Arsenal by two points, Klopp described the injury situation as “not great” on Tuesday.
The Liverpool manager stated on Tuesday, “I would like to sit here and say we have absolutely no issues, but obviously we have some.”
“Ali (Becker) is definitely unavailable. That’s a muscular injury for which we have no idea how long it will take to heal, but it won’t be returning anytime soon.
“Then, Diogo is ruled out due to a knee problem. Curtis was ruled out due to a bone/ligament condition.
“And then there are the others, where we will handle it with muscular issues on a daily basis. We’ll check in tomorrow.”
Nunez was not the subject of any updates from the German at his pre-game press conference.
“With Diogo, it will obviously take rather months,” stated Klopp in response to a question on the injury timelines.
“It also has to do with the injuries, so you have significant days. Therefore, day five and day ten are usually crucial days when you reevaluate the situation because different people react differently and it all depends on how much pain they are currently experiencing, among other factors.
“I couldn’t give you a timeframe even if I wanted to, so that’s just how it is.”

Liverpool, who are competing with Arsenal and Manchester City for the Premier League championship, will play Chelsea in the League Cup final on Sunday. They are also still in the FA Cup and Europa League.
In his last season at Anfield, Klopp commended his squad members for stepping up when called upon.
“We are where we are because of them,” he stated. “That is the situation as it stands, as the boys truly delivered.” They may all be in at a decent time, and we have options there, guys who have previously demonstrated their abilities, so we’ll see how many of them we have to employ and give them the chance.”
