Caitlin Clark’s WNBA debut drew the largest audience in two decades, with an average of 2.1 million viewers tuning in to watch the Indiana Fever face off against the Connecticut Sun on ESPN2, ESPN+, and Disney+. The game, which the Sun won 92-71, was the most watched WNBA game since 2001. The matchup also marked the first time Disney+ had streamed a live sports game, with viewership peaking at 2.3 million. Clark’s debut outperformed the competing NHL men’s Stanley Cup playoff game between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers, which aired during the same period on ESPN. Clark has been breaking records since her meteoric rise in the NCAA, including the most watched women’s college basketball game in history. The Clark phenomenon continued with the WNBA draft, in which she was a No. 1 overall pick, drawing an average of 2.4 million viewers.
