After being released, Gold Coast Titans winger is set to make an immediate Super League switch.
Treymain Spry of the Gold Coast Titans could be on the verge of a Super League move.
This is because the Titans released the winger, which surprised many in Australia due to the young winger’s potential.
With clubs like St Helens and Catalans Dragons in the market, he could now make the move to Super League.
St Helens are looking for a center or winger ahead of the new season, and after missing out on Justin Olam, a move for Spry appears to be the natural next step.
Meanwhile, the Dragons are looking to sign two or three players for next season, and Spry could help replace Wigan Warriors’ Adam Keighran.
The Gold Coast Titans said in a statement confirming Spry’s departure, “The Gold Coast Titans and Treymain Spry have mutually agreed to part ways.” In 2020, the outside back made his NRL debut, appearing in five games for the club.
“In 2023, he appeared in 18 games for Tweed Seagulls in the Hostplus Cup.” The Titans appreciate Spry’s efforts with the Coast and wish him the best in the future.”
The club was able to fend off interest in the highly sought after David Fifita ahead of next season, and he has spoken about it.
“It was definitely a challenging year last year, but I think those challenges have given me more to learn from,” he said, adding that “the coaches and my parents, they’ve helped me overcome those challenges just to try and push me more and more.”
“I believe this year will be a big year for me, and I’ll try to make up for anything I can improve on.”
“It taught me that if you’re in the team, you haven’t secured the spot, you have to keep working at training every day,” he told reporters.
“You just have to keep pushing yourself and letting the people around you push you.”
“I believe it has aided me mentally.” Every time I go to training, I try to improve myself; even at home, I try to do video and anything else that will help me perform on the field.”
