After their eighth consecutive victory, Liverpool have their best start at Anfield in 38 years.

Liverpool flexed their muscles again, adding three points to their score against Nottingham Forest, with three unanswered goals at Anfield setting a new record.

Jurgen Klopp’s team saw everyone of their starting strikers score, completing a comfortable afternoon at Anfield.

When the Reds needed patience against Forest’s back five, they got it, a welcome sign of improvement in a game where deep-lying sides can often lead to frustration.

But Liverpool were never out of control, and the clinical nature of the victory resulted in some outstanding numbers, which we’ve collated below with the help of FotMob.

To begin the season, the Reds have won all eight of their home games in all competitions.

The streak is the longest at Anfield since the 1985/86 season, when Liverpool won their opening 13 games.

To date, the Reds have a spotless record, scoring 24 goals and conceding only four, while scoring three or more goals in six of the eight matchups.

It’s the finest start to a home campaign in 38 years, even with Anfield at half capacity while the Anfield Road End is being built.

The fact that Klopp was still eager to pinpoint areas where Liverpool could improve following a clinical and comfortable performance spoke everything about the team’s growth.

“The last five minutes I think before half-time, all of a sudden we were a bit too deep and they just could chip the balls there and these are moments we have to improve, clearly,” the manager was quoted as saying.

It was discovering one of the few points of weakness as Liverpool limited Forest to just 27 percent possession and 193 accurate passes in 90 minutes – the Reds had 654.

Furthermore, Liverpool had an xG of 3.19, whereas Steve Cooper’s team had only 0.45.

They had nine shots on goal and only one on target, which came in the 95th minute despite hitting the crossbar moments before.

In the end, Alisson had a calm afternoon, which is a pleasant departure from the start of the season.
