Amy Lee Teases 2026 Evanescence Album After ‘Afterlife’ Breakout Success
Amy Lee Hints at New Evanescence Album in 2026 Following ‘Afterlife’ Success
In a recent interview with WDHA-FM’s Terrie Carr, Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee opened up about the band’s creative process and revealed that their next studio album is likely to arrive in early 2026. The update comes just months after the release of their popular single “Afterlife,” which featured on Netflix’s animated Devil May Cry series.
Lee reflected on the whirlwind pace of the past year, sharing how the band managed to squeeze in time at the studio between tour dates. “We went into the studio with Nick Raskulinecz just before working on ‘Afterlife,’” she explained. “We wrapped up our main tour last year and used that break to explore some new music. After that, things moved fast—we were back on the road, then rushing to finish ‘Afterlife.’ It’s been hectic, but honestly, it feels great. I’m in this ‘YOLO’ headspace—no time to waste, just full throttle creativity.”
The experience of releasing singles during the pandemic reshaped Evanescence’s approach to music. Rather than waiting to finish an entire album, they began dropping tracks as they were completed. That sense of immediacy is something Lee wants to replicate again. “Putting out music while it’s still fresh was so satisfying,” she said. “This year, I want to keep doing that—dropping songs organically, even if they’re side projects. The full album will probably come out early next year.”
Evanescence is also gearing up for several high-profile shows in the coming months. In September, they’ll play a one-off show with My Chemical Romance, followed by a stadium tour with Metallica in Australia this October. Other appearances include major radio festivals and performances with alt-pop artist Poppy, a close friend of Lee’s.
“Afterlife,” their latest single, was co-written by Amy Lee and acclaimed producer Alex Seaver (a.k.a. Mako), with production handled by Raskulinecz and Seaver. The track quickly gained traction, supported by a visually rich music video shot in a reportedly haunted house in Tennessee. The video, filled with Devil May Cry easter eggs, has already notched over 10 million views on YouTube and more than 20 million streams—making it the fastest-climbing single in the band’s history.
That momentum was followed by another major collaboration—this time with alt-rock artist K.Flay. Their new song “Fight Like A Girl,” featured in the John Wick-universe film Ballerina, was released on June 6 and co-written with Tyler Bates, the film’s composer. It’s the second original track linked to the film, following “Hand That Feeds,” a fiery duet between Lee and Halsey.
As Evanescence moves into its third decade, the band remains a powerhouse. Their breakout 2003 album Fallen remains one of the best-selling records of the 21st century, earning multi-platinum status and a rare RIAA diamond certification. With hits like “Bring Me to Life” and “My Immortal” still dominating streaming platforms—“Bring Me to Life” has passed 1.2 billion views on YouTube—their legacy continues to grow.
The current lineup—Amy Lee (vocals, piano), Tim McCord (guitar/bass), Will Hunt (drums), Troy McLawhorn (guitar), and Emma Anzai (bass, vocals)—has been performing to record-breaking crowds, including 40,000 fans at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil, their largest headlining show to date.
With new music steadily rolling out, and a confirmed album on the horizon, 2026 could mark another landmark year for Evanescence and their devoted global fanbase.
