Aston Villa gets a surprise Arsenal transfer twist in their pursuit of Douglas Luiz.

According to reports, Arsenal have “no chance” of signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent transfer windows, with speculation picking up again in recent weeks. Luiz has been a standout for Villa under Unai Emery, and there appears to be good news for Villans as the new year begins.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Arsenal has “no chance” of signing Luiz this winter. He also claims to have been told that the Gunners will not make a move for the midfielder because he does not fit the profile of the north London club.

“There is always speculation around Douglas Luiz, and he signed a new contract last January when Arsenal tried to sign him,” Ornstein said on The Athletic Football Podcast. It has been said to me that Arsenal has ‘no chance’ of acquiring him in January.

“People I speak to of an Arsenal persuasion dispute that they’re going to go for him, or that he’s the profile that everyone inside the club wants.”

Luiz has appeared in 15 Premier League games for Villa this season, scoring five goals and assisting on another two. He has two yellow cards and has yet to be sent off.
