Berbatov believes Man United will be hampered by the raucous Everton environment
Dimitar Berbatov has described how “the stadium can be crazy when backs are against the wall,” implying that Manchester United’s trip to Everton will be “tough.”
The Toffees are reeling from a 10-point deduction for violating profitability and sustainability rules. It has pushed them to the bottom of the Premier League.
The general reaction among fans and pundits has been that it is unjust, and that other clubs should face harsher penalties for similar potential violations.
The sanctions were described as “disproportionate” by Everton.
In any case, they could come out strong against Manchester United in their next match. Paul Merson expects a “mind-blowing” atmosphere at Goodison Park and believes the Toffees will use their outrage to inspire a victory.
Former United striker Berbatov believes the Red Devils will struggle due to the home crowd, but believes a draw is more likely than an Everton victory.
“It’ll be an interesting game.” Everton is now in the relegation zone after being docked 10 points. If they win, it will boost their confidence. “With all of these injuries, it’s going to be difficult for United to go to Everton,” he told Metro.
“As a club, you must know how to make wise decisions; otherwise, the consequences are severe.” The players will be heartbroken. The players will now have to work hard to get the club out of the relegation zone.
“They’ll be furious with that decision.” The real work begins now against United.
“Given United’s injuries, I believe Everton has a good chance to win this one, especially if the fans support the team.”
“We all know the stadium can get crazy when you have your back to the wall – I’ve seen it.” United do have a good record against Everton, so I’ll take a draw.”
A draw could tie the Toffees in the final relegation spot with Sheffield United, depending on their result, but given Luton are only two points ahead of the Merseysiders, they could exit the drop zone immediately with a win, and getting to safety as soon as possible will be the goal.
