Scottish comedy legend Billy Connolly has shared a positive health update after battling cancer and Parkinson’s disease. In a recent interview, the 80-year-old comedian expressed gratitude for his life, saying, “I’m a lucky bugger.”
Connolly, affectionately known as “The Big Yin,” was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013 and underwent surgery. He later revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2018. Despite these challenges, Connolly remains characteristically optimistic.
“I’ve got Parkinson’s, but it’s not got me,” he said. “I’m still enjoying life, and that’s the main thing.”
Connolly credited his wife, Pamela Stephenson, for her unwavering support. “She’s been incredible,” he said. “We’ve had our ups and downs, but she’s always been there for me.”
The comedian also emphasized the importance of staying active. “I still try to do things I love, like drawing and playing music,” he said. “It keeps my mind and body engaged.”
Connolly’s determination and resilience have inspired fans worldwide. His irrepressible spirit and humor continue to shine through, even in the face of adversity.
“I’m not done yet,” he declared. “I’ve still got stories to tell and jokes to share.”
