Breaking news:Mohamed Salah delivers a sack letter…
Mohamed Salah delivers a message to the sacked of Egypt coach following Jürgen Klopp’s and Liverpool’s injury row
Following Egypt’s elimination from the African Cup of Nations, Rui Vitória was fired as manager, and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool sent a parting message.
Rui Vitória, Egypt’s former head coach, was fired after a dismal campaign in the African Cup of Nations, and Mohamed Salah has said him farewell. Egypt advanced to the knockout stages, but lost to the Democratic Republic of the Congo on penalties. The Pharaohs then confirmed Vitória’s departure following Egypt’s early loss.
It follows the Egypt manager’s criticism of Jürgen Klopp following Salah’s tournament-related injury. After hurting his hamstring against Ghana, Salah went back to Liverpool to receive medical attention. It was agreed, nonetheless, that he would re-join his colleagues should they advance to the championship round.
During a press conference, Klopp confirmed the story, but Vitória took issue with his remarks. He took issue with Liverpool’s management of the injury setback.
He stated: We didn’t want to alarm anyone. I didn’t think it was right for Liverpool, via any intermediary, to speak about this, because we had a tremendously important game today. Salah has always been with us. Now this game is over we will find the best solution for the treatment of the player. These are the facts. This is the situation. Before the game we did not want to say anything. Meanwhile, everything was in the control of our excellent medical team.” Klopp later apologized to Vitória, but all turned out moot as Egypt could not stay long enough in the competition for Salah to make a comeback.
In the 2-2 draw that was Salah’s final game under Vitória, the Liverpool striker hurt his hamstring just before halftime. Salah said on Instagram after learning that Vitória had lost his job: “Coach, thanks for everything. Best wishes for the future to you.”
This Saturday is Liverpool’s next Premier League game, against Burnley. Although Salah has been intensifying his recuperation from injury this week, he is not anticipated to play at Anfield.
