Charles Lee has been Appointed as the new Charlotte Hornets Head Coach

The Charlotte Hornets have appointed Charles Lee as their new head coach, marking the 12th head coach in franchise history. Lee, who brings a decade of NBA assistant coaching experience, joins the Hornets after serving as the top assistant coach for the Boston Celtics during the 2023-24 season. His hiring was confirmed by Charlotte Hornets Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson, who expressed confidence in Lee’s character, player connectivity, and championship background.

Lee, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and enthusiasm for leading the Hornets, highlighting the team’s promising young talent and the passionate basketball community in the Carolinas.

Prior to his tenure with the Celtics, Lee spent five seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, culminating in an NBA championship in the 2020-21 season. His coaching career began with the Atlanta Hawks, where he contributed to a record-breaking season and postseason success. Lee’s coaching journey started after his collegiate basketball career at Bucknell University, where he also earned accolades as a player.

The Hornets’ decision to appoint Lee comes amid efforts to revitalize the franchise, which has faced challenges including an extended playoff drought and ownership transitions.
