Just two weeks after Daniel Ricciardo’s abrupt departure from VCARB, the Australian driver has received a job offer from Supercars, with chief executive Shane Howard expressing a strong desire to bring him into the Australian racing scene.

Ricciardo’s time in Formula 1 came to an unexpected halt when VCARB confirmed that the Singapore Grand Prix was his final race for the team. With Red Bull opting to field Liam Lawson alongside Yuki Tsunoda for the remainder of the season, Ricciardo’s F1 future looks uncertain, despite hints from Red Bull boss Christian Horner that Ricciardo could still have opportunities within the team.

While Red Bull seems open to retaining Ricciardo in some capacity, no other F1 teams have shown interest in signing him for next year. However, Supercars is eager to bring Ricciardo back to Australia.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard expressed enthusiasm for the idea, saying, “Everyone would welcome Daniel with open arms. Would we like to see him in a Supercar? Absolutely. It would be massive, especially if he raced in a new street race in Perth or at Bathurst.”

Howard plans to reach out to Ricciardo’s management team when the time is right, hoping to secure his involvement in the series. Blake Friend, a member of Ricciardo’s management, has ties to Supercars, which could help facilitate the potential move.

However, Ricciardo himself has expressed reservations about joining another motorsport series, sharing concerns that competing outside of Formula 1 might not fulfill him. “No disrespect to other series, but after experiencing the highest level in F1, I’m not sure if racing elsewhere would give me the same satisfaction,” he said.

For now, it remains uncertain whether Ricciardo will take up Supercars’ offer, but the door is open for his return to Australian motorsport.
