Diogo Jota Becomes First Liverpool Player to Comment on Jurgen Klopp’s Move to Red Bull
Diogo Jota has voiced his support for Jurgen Klopp following the former Liverpool manager’s decision to take on a controversial new role with Red Bull. Jota, who played under Klopp at Liverpool, emphasized that he respects his former coach’s decision and avoided any involvement in the controversy surrounding Klopp’s move.
Jota is the first player from Liverpool to publicly back Klopp this week, amidst criticism from Dortmund fans who have expressed strong disapproval of the German coach’s new position.
Klopp recently announced that his new role with Red Bull is the “perfect platform” for him to continue his football journey. However, the decision has sparked backlash from German football fans due to Red Bull’s history of bypassing ownership regulations, a practice Klopp had previously criticized.
In an interview with *Record* in Portugal, Jota said, “Klopp? He’s someone I care about a lot, and we need to respect his decision. I wish him the best of luck in this new chapter.”
With Klopp now replaced by Arne Slot as Liverpool’s manager, the Reds are preparing for their return to action after the international break, where they will host Chelsea. Liverpool currently sits atop the Premier League table, remaining unbeaten and only conceding two goals in their first seven games.
Jota, on international duty, will face Poland and Scotland with Portugal in the Nations League in the coming days.
