Eagles trade rumours are addressed by Haason Reddick.
Eagles supporters found Super Bowl Sunday particularly memorable after learning that the team had granted Haason Reddick permission to pursue a trade. Reddick explained the topic on Tuesday, saying that he didn’t request a trade and that he actually wants to work out an extension to stay in Philadelphia. It had seemed as though Reddick wasn’t happy towards the close of the 2023 campaign.
“I would like to work on an extension at my house. According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, Reddick stated, “I never told the organisation I wanted to be traded.” I feel at home here. I grew up here after being born. This was the location of two of my favourite football-playing years ever. Being an Eagle has meant a lot to me.
With just one year left on his contract, none of Reddick’s remaining earnings are guaranteed. The native of Philadelphia insisted that he never requested a trade, but he also acknowledged that he knows this is all business and that he’s ready for whatever comes next.
The Eagles informed Reddick’s team that they may look into trade possibilities since they knew the star defender needed a new deal. But that’s also a far way from the group openly trying to dump their sack-leader.
The fact that Reddick genuinely wants to stay in Philadelphia is comforting, especially considering how much of an impact he has had during his two seasons on the defence. When Matt Patricia chose to have the pass-rusher drop back in coverage instead of going after quarterbacks at the end of the previous season, his frustrations were more than a little justified.
Even though the Eagles still have Josh Sweat under contract and rookie Nolan Smith on a rookie contract, it would be absurd to claim that the defence would be as effective without Reddick. The Eagles must be aware of this, but they probably still intend to bring him back for a fair amount. Encouraging Reddick to look into trade possibilities may help the DE understand what he would be worth in free agency, which would improve the mutual understanding of how they could go.
