Emma Raducanu’s Porsche Ambassadorship Ripped From Her Amid Injury Struggles

Emma Raducanu’s childhood love for Porsche stemmed from one of her first tennis coaches, who owned a Porsche sports car. Recalling her early days, she mentioned, “Whenever I would turn up to practice in the morning, I would see his Porsche, and I’d dream of one day owning one.”

That dream became a reality when Raducanu, following her remarkable victory at the 2021 US Open at just 18 years old, was appointed as a global brand ambassador for Porsche. The endorsement deal was reportedly substantial. She was seen driving a £125,000 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, with a top speed of 192 mph, to the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, looking both proud and a little nervous.

However, it now seems that her partnership with Porsche might be in jeopardy. A source close to Raducanu revealed, “Emma no longer has a Porsche. They took it back.” A Porsche spokesperson confirmed that while they occasionally loan her a car, it is on an ad hoc basis, suggesting the sponsorship is no longer as robust as it once was.

A sponsorship industry insider noted that Porsche is known for quickly withdrawing vehicles from ambassadors if it feels the collaboration isn’t delivering enough value. Despite Raducanu’s efforts, including promotional videos where she drove various Porsche models, her recent performance on the tennis court has been hindered by injuries and surgeries.

Raducanu has secured other lucrative sponsorship deals with brands like Dior, Evian, HSBC, and Vodafone, earning a reported £9.6 million last year. Despite her success, she remains grounded, once stating, “I’m not just Emma Raducanu who arrives in a Porsche, wears Dior, and flies first class.”

Although she has struggled to regain her US Open-winning form due to injuries, a Porsche spokesperson confirmed that she remains their global brand ambassador, and they are “very happy” with their ongoing partnership.
