Erling Haaland injury “not serious,” but might miss clash against Liverpool
The striker’s ankle ailment, which returned over the international break, raised doubts about his health, but the team has since stated that it is “not serious.”
But according to Norwegian medical personnel, the striker is “in so much pain” and won’t play in Norway’s match against Scotland on Sunday.
Ola Sand, the national team’s physician, disclosed: “The injury is not serious.”
“But the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early, as he is in so much pain and has somewhat restricted function.”
“It is obviously unfortunate that Erling will not be ready for the match on Sunday, but we will not be bringing in a replacement,” continued Norway’s manager Stale Solbakken.
“This is a fantastic chance for the team’s offensive players to shine.”
It seems that Haaland will have some time to relax and recover before Man City’s crucial match against Liverpool, the reigning champions, on Saturday. Pep Guardiola will be hoping that his top scorer is healthy enough to participate.
On November 25, at 12:30 pm, the Premier League leaders—who are now only one point behind Liverpool in second place—will welcome the Reds at the Etihad Stadium in their first game back after the international break.
With 17 goals in 16 games across all competitions for City this season, Haaland is in the lead in the Premier League with 13 goals, one more than Mohamed Salah, the star player for Liverpool, who has ten.
