Everton keen on signing Gent defender Archie Brown to the club

Everton are said to be interested in signing Gent defender Archie Brown, but they will have to wait.

Everton will be wary in January after receiving a 10-point deduction last month for violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

As a result, Sean Dyche is unlikely to have a large amount of money to spend in January, but this could indicate that The Toffees are looking for a bargain

Which, given how successful other teams have been at profiting from bargains, could actually be better for Everton.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are now interested in 21-year-old left-back Archie Brown, who is currently playing in Belgium.

Brown only joined his current club Gent in the summer, having previously played three league games for Lausanne.

This creates a bit of a problem because FIFA rules state that a player cannot play for three teams in a season, so a move may have to wait until June.

Gent signed Brown for £3.4m in the summer, and they are unlikely to sell for anything less than a loss.

Instead, they almost certainly paid nearly twice as much for the Englishman.

This is almost certainly a deal within the parameters of Everton, who must be cautious in order to avoid further sanctions.

We’d like to see Everton sign a player who is on the rise and constantly improving. On Everton’s left flank, he would provide excellent cover and, no doubt, competition for Vitaliy Mykolenko.
