FIFA will pay West Ham United following the announcement of Michail Antonio’s injury.
On November 19, the West Ham news source revealed on Twitter that the Hammers can utilize the Program to pursue monetary damages for the injuries that occurred when he was traveling to Jamaica.
FIFA introduced the Club Protection Programme for 2023–2026 to compensate clubs in the event that a player sustains an injury while playing for their nation that lasts longer than 28 days.
The most recent setback of Antonio’s terrible season
The West Ham striker has had a difficult season thus far due to his well-documented difficulties in front of goal, which frustrate both him and the supporters. The newest set of bad news for the striker is this injury.
Although the extent and duration of Antonio’s absence from this injury are still unknown, he has previously experienced hamstring problems, the most severe of which resulted in 132 missed days during the 2017–18 campaign.
If Antonio and West Ham’s injury isn’t as bad as initially thought, they might not even be eligible for FIFA’s compensation, which only begins to accrue after the first 28 days of the ailment.
The lack of a backup for Antonio will be a larger setback to the Hammers than his form this season. Divin Mubama, 19, would be the second backup option. Danny Ings has also struggled.
