Former teammates and fans of Caitlin Clark from her time at the University of Iowa are speaking out against her recent benching in the WNBA. Clark, the No. 1 pick in the draft, has started her career on the bench, sparking outrage among those who know her capabilities.
“This is just hate,” said one former teammate. “Caitlin is an incredible player and an even better person. She deserves respect and a chance to prove herself.”
Another former Hawkeye added, “We saw what she could do on the court. She’s a game-changer. This benching is just a setback, but she’ll prove them wrong.”
Clark’s former coach, Lisa Bluder, also weighed in, saying, “Caitlin is a talented player who worked hard to achieve success. I have no doubt she’ll bounce back from this and show the WNBA what she’s capable of.”
The outpouring of support from Clark’s former teammates and coach highlights the disbelief and frustration felt by many at her benching. As Clark continues to work towards earning her starting spot, her former Hawkeye family will be cheering her on every step of the way.
