Games seems so fast and more physicality, Caitlin Clark on adapting to the WNBA…
Caitlin Clark, the highly touted rookie, has faced a steep learning curve in her first two WNBA games. The Indiana Fever guard has struggled to find her footing against the league’s elite defenses, leading to a rough start to her professional career.
Clark, who dominated in college, has found it challenging to translate her game to the WNBA level. She has been hounded by relentless defenders, who have made it difficult for her to get open looks or create space to operate. Her shooting percentage has suffered, and she has turned the ball over more frequently than expected.
Despite her struggles, Clark remains confident in her abilities and is working tirelessly to adapt to the WNBA’s physical and mental demands. “The physicality is definitely up there…I’m easily pushed off screens,” Clark said. “The game seems a little fast for me right now. The more I play and the more comfortable I get, it’s going to slow down a little bit.”
Clark’s coach, Christie Sides, has also expressed confidence in her young guard, acknowledging that the transition to the WNBA can be difficult. “Caitlin is a talented player, and we knew there would be an adjustment period,” Sides said. “We’re working with her to develop her game and help her succeed at this level.”
