Glory and Monument Ambitions Await… What’s Next for Tadej Pogačar?
What’s Next for Pogačar?
Tadej Pogačar’s future in cycling promises to be as thrilling as his past victories. As he looks ahead, the Olympics and the World Championships are on his radar, both featuring courses that are well-suited to his versatile racing style. These prestigious events offer Pogačar the opportunity to further cement his status as one of the sport’s greats.
Although he won’t be participating in this year’s Vuelta a España, Pogačar has hinted that conquering this grand tour is a goal he aims to achieve in the near future. His ambitions don’t stop there. He has expressed a strong interest in some of cycling’s most challenging and revered one-day races, known as Monuments. Specifically, he has mentioned on French television his desire to compete in Paris-Roubaix, one of the oldest and most grueling races in the sport. Additionally, Milan-San Remo, with its demanding route and strategic importance, is also in his sights.
Despite his impressive achievements, Pogačar maintains a humble perspective on his career. He insists that records and statistics aren’t what drive him. “I don’t like to see myself in the records, statistics, history,” he said. “Maybe in 30 years I will look back on this, but right now, I want to enjoy this moment. Even if I never come back to the Tour de France, I will be satisfied.” This statement reflects a deep passion for the sport and a focus on the present joy of competition rather than the distant future.
Currently, Pogačar admits he is “super tired” and looking forward to some much-needed rest after an intense season. However, fans and competitors alike shouldn’t expect him to slow down for long. His competitive spirit and love for racing mean he will be back, ready to tackle new challenges and claim more victories. Pogačar has described this period as a “golden age” for cycling, but in truth, it is his era that is shining the brightest. His dominance and determination have defined this time in the sport, marking it as the Pogačar era.
In the years to come, it’s clear that Pogačar will continue to be a formidable force in cycling. His ambitions extend beyond what he has already accomplished, indicating that the cycling world will witness many more remarkable feats from him. Whether it’s grand tours, the Olympics, World Championships, or the historic Monuments, Pogačar’s presence will be felt, and his legacy will only grow stronger. For now, as he takes a brief respite, the world of cycling eagerly anticipates his return and the next chapter of his extraordinary career.
