In recent NBA rumors, Golden State Warriors’ forward Andrew Wiggins is reportedly lacking significant trade value, according to an anonymous general manager. Despite Wiggins’ crucial role in the Warriors’ 2022 championship run, his market appeal seems to have diminished, leaving the team with limited options if they consider moving him.
Wiggins, who joined the Warriors in 2020, has been a key contributor on both ends of the floor, known for his defensive versatility and scoring ability. However, this season has seen inconsistencies in his performance, coupled with injury concerns, which have potentially dampened his trade attractiveness.
The anonymous GM cited these issues as primary reasons why Wiggins’ trade value is not high at the moment. “His contract is substantial, and with his current level of play, teams are hesitant to take on that salary without more consistent production,” the GM explained.
This development presents a challenge for the Warriors, who are navigating the delicate balance between maintaining a championship-caliber roster and managing their salary cap. Wiggins’ hefty contract, which runs through the 2023-2024 season, complicates potential trade scenarios.
As the trade deadline approaches, it remains to be seen whether the Warriors will explore deals involving Wiggins or focus on internal adjustments to optimize their lineup. For now, Wiggins’ future with the team remains uncertain, influenced heavily by his current trade market perception.
