How the Premier League table looks now that Everton has been docked points

Everton have dropped from 14th to 19th place, and are only one goal ahead of bottom club Burnley on goal difference. Their rise moves Luton Town, who have only won one league game all season, out of the relegation zone and into 17th place, and Sheffield United, who are also looking for their second win, up to 18th.

Everton’s penalty will be welcomed with open arms by Bournemouth, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest, all of whom have moved up a place in the table. Unfortunately for Sean Dyche’s team, the points deduction comes just as they were gaining momentum.

Everton won four of their last seven league games and have only been beaten once since September, so dropping to the bottom of the table will be a major mental blow for the team. However, a win could lift them out of the relegation zone, and as one X fan put it, “Arguably, this is the ‘best’ season to receive a points deduction, with Luton, Sheff Utd, and Burnley all awful.”
