I did my best,I am in my prime says Caitlin Clark…
Caitlin Clark, the 2024 No. 1 WNBA draft pick, showed promise in the Indiana Fever’s 91-80 loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday. Clark scored 22 points, a career-high, on 9-for-17 shooting, and added eight assists, six rebounds, and one steal. Despite falling behind by 23 points in the third quarter, the Fever cut the deficit to 11 points by the end of the game, outscoring the Liberty 43-34 in the second half.
Head coach Christie Sides praised the team’s growth and competitiveness, saying, “Lots of growth from the night before last till today…the word was ‘compete’.” Clark echoed this sentiment, stating, “I thought I came out and just played harder…just come out and compete and play hard.”
Although the Fever remain winless, Clark’s performance suggests a promising future for the team. She became the fourth player in WNBA history to record 50 points and 15 assists in their first three career games. The Fever will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming games, starting with a rematch against the Connecticut Sun on Monday.
