If Ten Hag is fired, Man United may turn to ex-Chelsea manager Graham Potter.
Ten Hag is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford following a string of poor results this season, including exits from Europe and the Carabao Cup, as well as seven Premier League defeats.
If it is decided that Ten Hag’s time as manager is up, United could turn to former Chelsea manager Potter.
Potter’s work is also admired by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is about to complete his minority stake purchase in Manchester United.
Potter is also friends with Dan Ashworth, who is being considered for the role of sporting director at Manchester United, from their time working together at Brighton.
Potter has been unemployed since being fired as Chelsea manager in April. He had only been in the job for about seven months.
He rose to prominence as Brighton manager during his three-year tenure at the Amex Stadium, where he helped the club maintain its Premier League status.
Man United could suffer another setback this weekend when they face Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
They are missing club captain Bruno Fernandes, who is suspended, as well as Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, who were injured during the Red Devils’ Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
United are already missing Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, and Tyrell Malacia due to injury. Victor Lindelof is a doubt for the match against Liverpool.
