Jurgen Klopp mocks Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia with ‘lucky’ dig

Jurgen Klopp has spoken out about Liverpool’s failure to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, while also mocking the Chelsea duo.

Caicedo and Lavia both rejected moves to Anfield in the summer in favor of Stamford Bridge, with the Blues paying more than £150 million for the midfield duo.

Caicedo has since struggled to replicate the form that sparked interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, while Lavia has yet to make his debut following a string of injuries.

Klopp was asked about his reshaped side and their march to the top of the Premier League table on Monday at the Anfield Road Stand test event, and he confirmed he believes the club dodged a couple of bullets with the signing of Wataru Endo as a third-choice player.

He went on to explain: “The summer we had, we had a few strange things happen in the transfer market but here, between us, I can say ‘My god, were we lucky, eh?'”

“We didn’t know that at the time, and it didn’t feel like it at the time, but yeah, I’m really glad it worked out, but you never know.”

“Obviously, we realized that other central defensive midfielders don’t want to join Liverpool, you see what happens,” he continued, “and then we found Endo.” He’s a fantastic player… He was determined to come, which is a plus.”
