Jurgen Klopp reveals his favorite non-Liverpool player in the Premier League.
Bowen has been in brilliant form for the Hammers this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions after successfully transitioning into a center forward role.
The 27-year-old scored with West Ham’s only shot on goal in a 5-1 defeat in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals at Anfield on Wednesday.
After the game, Klopp spoke to the press and praised Bowen, praising the England international’s recent development. Bowen had been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, but he committed his long-term future to West Ham by signing a seven-year contract at London Stadium.
“Everyone can smell the chance to go through in the quarter-finals,” Klopp said. David [Moyes] is doing an incredible job in a very busy period, finding a lineup that can go and go and go because West Ham is a physically really strong team.
“They’re back, and it’s really impressive in Europe.” There are also injury concerns. Bowen fills in for Antonio when he is unavailable.
“[He is] probably my favorite player, aside from all of my players.” It’s fantastic what he’s doing and how he’s grown.”
Klopp also took the time to preview his club’s next Carabao Cup game, in which the Reds will face Fulham in a two-leg semi-final.
“It looks like it will be two spectacular games – the last one was pretty spectacular,” he added. We discussed it with David before the game; Fulham is extremely well set up, which we felt here and which West Ham felt a few days later.
“They are really strong, to be honest, really good team and they want to go to Wembley as well, so we will feel that.”
