Former Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has turned down a significant contract proposal from Amazon. The deal, reportedly worth $5 million, would have made Raikkonen Amazon’s exclusive motorsport ambassador.
Raikkonen, who retired from F1 in 2021, cited a desire to focus on family and personal interests. “After 20 years in F1, I’m enjoying time with my loved ones and pursuing hobbies,” he said.
The Finnish driver’s decision has drawn respect from the racing community. “Kimi’s always been true to himself,” said former teammate Fernando Alonso. “He’s earned the right to prioritize his personal life.”
Throughout his illustrious career, Raikkonen won 21 Grands Prix and the 2007 World Championship with Ferrari. His legacy in F1 remains unshakeable.
“Racing will always be part of me, but now it’s time for other passions,” Raikkonen emphasized. By declining Amazon’s offer, Raikkonen reaffirms his commitment to a balanced life.
“I’m happy with my decision,” Raikkonen concluded. “Life after F1 is treating me well.” With his priorities firmly in place, Raikkonen looks set to enjoy a peaceful post-racing life.
