Larry Bird Reminisces About Historic Moments “Deliberates on Left-Handed Masterpiece”
Larry Bird, the legendary Boston Celtics forward, recently reflected on one of the most iconic performances of his illustrious career. In a 1986 game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Bird played a significant portion of the game left-handed, scoring 47 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists.
“It was a crazy game,” Bird chuckled in a recent interview. “I hurt my right hand in the first half, but I didn’t want to come out. So, I just started playing left-handed.”
Bird’s left-handed prowess was on full display, as he sank 10 of his 21 field goals with his non-dominant hand. His remarkable performance led the Celtics to a thrilling 120-119 victory over the Blazers.
“That game was something special,” Bird recalled. “I’ve never been one to brag, but it was a pretty incredible feat. Even I was impressed with myself!”
The game has become an enduring highlight of Bird’s Hall of Fame career, showcasing his adaptability, skill, and competitive drive. It’s a moment that continues to inspire awe and admiration from basketball fans around the world.
