Lastest news: Championship opponents Leeds United are expected to fire…
Championship opponents Leeds United are expected to fire their boss following a hand grenade remark and a media embargo.
Daniel Farke could well be facing a different opposition boss when he takes to the dugout on April 13 as Blackburn appear on the verge of ending their association with Danish coach Tomasson, according to MailSport.
The 47-year-old has previously spoken out against the running of the club, which has found itself in financial difficulty recently and sanctioned the £18 million exit of academy star Adam Wharton during the January transfer window.
However, nothing has changed; in fact, things were already pretty bad in the summer when a hand grenade appeared out of nowhere and drastically reduced the budget.
Probably for this reason, chief executive Steve Waggott stated that staying in the league is [the job] this season. I have a little more goals in mind.”
At the pre-match news conference that Tomasson was supposed to have last Friday, ahead of Rovers’ 2-1 loss to Queens Park Rangers, he chose not to address the media. It was accepted that the club had made this choice.
After the R’s loss, he said on BBC Radio Lancashire that it’s bad to be unable to communicate with the supporters.
Last summer, I told the club that this was not what I had signed up for and that it was a different circumstance. I also said, “We can terminate my contract, no problem; I don’t want money for that,” and I asked them if they wanted to find another one [head coach].
In response to a very challenging circumstance, I replied that you should definitely hire a new coach if the project has changed and you now require one.
They asked to stay, saying, “No.” After that, I relocated my family here and dedicated all of my attention to Rovers; my wife and two kids are now here, and I believe about rovers 24 hours a day.
It was a cruel blow to Tomasson and the club’s supporters when Blackburn failed to qualify for the playoffs the previous season owing to a worse goal differential. Many fans of Ewood Park have praised the former striker for his appealing playing style, but it appears the team may be looking for a new head coach to wrap out the Championship season.
Rovers dropped to 18th place in the standings this season after pursuing a play-off berth early in the campaign. They have only collected two of the last 24 points. The group is now five points clear of the relegation zone.
After chasing a play-off berth early in the season, Rovers fell to 18th place in the standings this year. Out of the previous 24 points, they have only managed to accumulate two. Now, the team is five points above the relegation zone.
