Luke Musgrave of the Packers has been placed on injured reserve with a lacerated kidney
GREEN BAY, WI – After being placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, Packers rookie tight end Luke Musgrave and running back Emanuel Wilson will miss the Thanksgiving game against the Lions as well as at least three more games.
According to ESPN, Musgrave suffered a lacerated kidney in last Sunday’s win over the Chargers, while Wilson left the game with a shoulder injury.
It’s unclear whether Musgrave will play again this season, but if he does, the earliest possible return date would be Dec. 24 against the Panthers.
The Packers signed James Robinson, a former Jaguars 1,000-yard rusher, from their practice squad. After Wilson and Aaron Jones (knee) were injured, they re-signed him to the practice squad on Monday. Robinson had previously been on the practice squad this season.
Jones is unlikely to play against the Lions. On the Packers’ roster are running backs AJ Dillon and Patrick Taylor, who was re-signed from the Patriots’ practice squad on Monday.
They also signed practice squad receiver Bo Melton due to concerns about receivers Dontayvion Wicks (concussion protocol), Jayden Reed (chest), and Christian Watson (shoulder).
They also promoted fullback Henry Pearson and safety Benny Sapp III from the practice squad for the Lions game.
The Packers were taken aback by Musgrave’s injury. He completed the game on Sunday but later reported a problem to the team’s medical staff. Coach Matt LaFleur did not reveal the nature of the injury, but Musgrave was released from the hospital on Tuesday. On the injury report, he was listed as having an abdomen injury.
“He’s got a pretty significant injury,” LaFleur revealed on Tuesday. “I think it just speaks to his toughness, because he didn’t say anything all game, and then something came up. … This kid is as tough as they come.”
Josiah Deguara (hip) is another injured tight end for the Packers. Pearson, on the other hand, can handle some of the tight end duties.
