  Marc Marquez Kicks Off 2025 With Laps On Ducati’s New Custom Special Bike, Worth Millions

Marc Márquez has kicked off 2025 by putting in a few laps on the new Ducati Panigale V2, marking his official start as a Ducati factory rider. With the new year comes new contracts, and Márquez is now fully integrated into Ducati, ready to enjoy the benefits that come with his new team, even away from the MotoGP circuit.

To inaugurate his new role, Marquez tested the 2025 Ducati Panigale V2 at the Aspar Circuit in Valencia. This latest model boasts less power but also less weight, thanks to its new-generation twin-cylinder engine, which is the lightest V-twin engine produced by Ducati to date.

Joining Marquez on track were a number of leading figures from the world of Grand Prix racing. These included reigning Moto3 World Champion David Alonso on a Yamaha R6, and other riders such as Dani Holgado, Izan Guevara, Tony Arbolino, Alex Marquez and Sergio Garcia, all on older R6 models. Additionally, Marquez’s protégés Max Quiles and Angel Piqueras were on Honda CBR600RRs, making for a day packed with top-level talent.

This session was not only a showcase of skill, but also the first time Marquez had trained on a Ducati road bike, having previously used unbranded Hondas for his practice runs. Although teammate Francesco Bagnaia frequently trains on the Panigale V4 R superbike, Marquez has yet to be seen on this model outside of the Race of Champions at last year’s Ducati World Week.

Despite his switch to Ducati, Marquez still uses Honda CRF motocross bikes for training. However, this could change with the upcoming production Ducati Desmo450 MX motocross bike later this year, which could potentially add another Ducati model to his training routine.
