Sex, Stones & Rock ’n’ Roll: Netflix Drops the Hammer on a Scandal-Packed Rolling Stones Documentary
It’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll—But Now It’s on Netflix: The Rolling Stones Get the Definitive Documentary Treatment
After six decades of making music, stirring controversy, and redefining rock stardom, The Rolling Stones are finally getting the full Netflix documentary spotlight. The streaming giant has announced that a feature-length docuseries chronicling the band’s outrageous rise, excess-fueled decades, and ongoing legacy is officially in production—promising a no-holds-barred look at one of the most influential and wildest bands of all time.
Titled Paint It Loud: The Rolling Stones Story (working title), the multi-part series is slated to drop globally in late 2025, marking the first time the band has given full behind-the-scenes access to a production of this scale.
“This is not just another rock doc,” said a Netflix executive. “This is the story of how The Rolling Stones shaped the world—and the price they paid to do it.”
The documentary will track the band’s origins in early 1960s London, when Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, and Bill Wyman were dismissed as the rougher, raunchier alternative to the Beatles—only to become the most enduring force in rock ’n’ roll history.
Highlights the Documentary Will Cover:
-
The chaotic early years and meteoric rise to fame
-
The 1969 Altamont tragedy and its impact on rock culture
-
The turbulent exit and death of Brian Jones
-
The band’s infamous drug arrests, tabloid feuds, and world tours
-
Personal insights into Mick and Keith’s legendary creative (and combative) partnership
-
Charlie Watts’ calm influence and lasting legacy
-
The band’s resurgence in the ‘80s, ‘90s, and their unbelievable ability to still sell out stadiums into their 80s
The project features never-before-seen backstage footage, exclusive interviews with band members, producers, fellow musicians, and candid reflections from Mick and Keith themselves. Fans can expect raw honesty, rare performances, and the soundtrack of a generation—including iconic tracks like Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil, Angie, Start Me Up, and (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.
The Stones have seen it all: death, addiction, reinvention, revolution, and reinvention—and they’re still standing.
This documentary aims to capture that magic—and that madness.
The first teaser is expected by early 2025, with a premiere anticipated before year’s end.
The Rolling Stones may have started as rebels—but now, they’re legends. And Netflix is finally telling their story in full volume.
