Nico Estévez Waives Off U.S Soccer To Handle Activities In Austin FC For The…Read More
Nico Estévez has departed U.S. Soccer for the second time, this time to take the reins at Major League Soccer’s Austin FC. Estévez previously served as assistant coach to Gregg Berhalter at the USMNT from 2019 to 2021.
After a stint as FC Dallas head coach, Estévez briefly rejoined U.S. Soccer, working alongside Mauricio Pochettino this month. He was being considered for a permanent role on Pochettino’s staff.
However, with Austin FC’s head coach position vacant following Josh Wolff’s departure, Estévez seized the opportunity. Wolff, a former USMNT player and Berhalter’s assistant coach, was let go earlier this summer.
Estévez’s experience in American soccer and his familiarity with MLS make him an ideal candidate for Austin FC. The Spanish coach will aim to revitalize the team’s fortunes and push for a playoff spot.
Austin FC’s decision to appoint Estévez signals their ambition to compete in the competitive MLS landscape. Estévez’s challenge begins immediately, as he looks to instill his vision and tactics into the team.
With Estévez at the helm, Austin FC fans can expect an exciting new chapter in the team’s history.
