Panthers Center Raves About Bryce Young’s Maturity As He Enters Second Pro Season
“Even when he wasn’t even in the game, he was the one who talked the most.”
The Carolina Panthers’ offensive lineman Austin Corbett has moved into the starting center position. Following some delays brought on by knee surgery, Corbett is currently coaching Bryce Young, a second-year quarterback who has grown to be one of his closest colleagues.
Because of his size and arm length, Corbett’s previous college coach recommended he go from left tackle to center, which started his journey to become a center. Now, in 2024, Corbett has formally established himself as Carolina’s starting center, fulfilling the counsel given to him.
Even when he was unable to play due to injury, Corbett continued to be involved and supportive of his team. The quarterback for the Panthers, Young, had nothing but praise for Corbett’s commitment to the game and expertise.
Corbett was interviewed by Overtime Heroics Senior Editor Reggie Roberts, who covered a variety of football and non-football subjects. They discussed his favorite James Bond movie character, the best advise he had received from another NFL player, his ideal dinner, his goals for the future after football, his favorite actor, and his ideal trip spot.
“He was so involved and so into it last year, even though it’s obvious that he wasn’t well for a lot of the year,”
Said Young. He wouldn’t have been playing if you weren’t present and unaware of anything that occurred. I’ve never seen someone take notes quite as detailed as he was. Even when he wasn’t even playing the game, he spoke the most throughout every protection meeting we held. Corbett being his centre this season excites Bryce Young, he told reporters.
Corbett, the team’s centre, gives the offensive line steadiness and experience as the Panthers continue their postseason run.
Outside of the field, Corbett provides some personal details about his hobbies and future goals. He enjoys watching James Bond films, and his favourite Bond actor is Sean Connery. He also cherishes Joel Bitonio’s advise, a former teammate, to believe in oneself in the NFL.
After his NFL career ends, Corbett plans to pursue further schooling in sports science or physical therapy. His favourite dish is ribeye steak with scalloped potatoes. He looks forward to actor Matthew McConaughey and hopes to take his family on an African safari in the future.
