Sean Payton is pleased with the Broncos’ “momentum” following another victory.
The Denver Broncos and their head coach, Sean Payton, keep winning.
Denver stunned Minnesota on Sunday Night Football with a game-winning touchdown from wide receiver Courtland Sutton and a huge defensive stop. The Broncos are now 5-5 on the season and in a tight race for the AFC playoffs.
QB Russell Wilson connected with Sutton for his eighth touchdown of the season, and Denver escaped with a 21-20 victory after the offense was mired in mud for most of the night. It was Sutton’s fifth receiving touchdown in as many games.
The Broncos are now tenth in the AFC, one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers for the final playoff spot. They still have games against the Browns and Texans, who are just ahead of them.
Payton was pleased with his team’s performance to keep the good times rolling in Denver after the game, but he knows there’s still work to be done.
“Yeah, I think we’ve got some traction.” “I’m not sure if I’m ready to groove yet,” Payton joked.
Denver’s next game is against Cleveland, who will be without QB Deshaun Watson for the rest of the season. On Sunday, they defeated the Steelers 13-10.
“Like they say, this isn’t the team, this isn’t it, this team still has work to do.” That is how we must coach and practice. And I believe we will,” Payton said.
The Broncos’ rise from 1-5 to 5-5 is one of the best stories in the NFL. If they can extend their winning streak to five games, the entire league will be watching.
But, for the time being, this is the most ecstatic Broncos Nation has been since Super Bowl 50. A once-proud franchise appears to be returning, giving fans hope that they have been waiting for for eight years.
