Seattle hiring Ryan Grubb As New Offensive Coordinator

Ryan Grubb, the former offensive coordinator for Washington, will return to the West Coast to take up the same role with the Seattle Seahawks after accepting an opportunity to join Alabama. This move will fill one of the top openings left in the NFL coaching cycle. This information is based on 247Sports.

After Shane Waldron left the Seahawks to take a similar position with the Chicago Bears, Grubb, 47, was connected to Seattle. However, the former assistant for Washington then seemed to seal an agreement with Alabama to become Kalen DeBoer’s offensive coordinator. He even informed supporters on Wednesday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, home of the Crimson Tide, that he had accepted the role.

Just a few days later, Matt Zenitz reports that Grubb is headed to the NFL, where he will manage the offence under Mike Macdonald, the new coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

Grubb, who spent the previous two seasons as the Huskies’ offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and associate head coach, is making a return to his home state of Washington. The Iowa native had previously played for five years in a variety of assistant offensive roles at Fresno State, in addition to longer stints at Eastern Michigan, Sioux Falls, and South Dakota State.

But Grubb has never worked for an NFL team; this will be his first professional employment of any type as the Seahawks’ new offensive coordinator.

Notably, Grubb is close to Michael Penix Jr., a 2024 NFL Draft prospect who transferred to Washington the same year Grubb enrolled in the programme. Penix Jr. is regarded as one of the best quarterback prospects in this year’s class, and with Geno Smith, 33, a possible salary-cap casualty following an inconsistent season, Seattle may need to add another signal-caller.
