Tadej Pogacar Open to Future Grand Tour Treble, But Says ‘I Don’t Want to Burn Out with 3 Grand Tours in a Few Months’

After his dominant victories at the 2024 Giro d’Italia and Tour de France, some speculated that Tadej Pogacar might attempt an unprecedented Grand Tour treble by competing in the Vuelta a España. However, the UAE Team Emirates star opted not to participate, though he hasn’t entirely dismissed the possibility for future seasons.

In an interview with *La Gazzetta dello Sport* ahead of his upcoming races in Canada, Pogacar reflected on his decision. “It could have happened, but I was really tired after the Tour. I’m happy I took the time to rest and enjoy a proper summer,” he shared.

When asked if he might aim for the Grand Tour treble in the future, Pogacar acknowledged it as a potential long-term goal. “Maybe in the future, but not yet. I’m still young, and I don’t want to overexert myself with three Grand Tours in one season. It’s a huge risk with the intense racing schedule and the pressure involved.”

Looking ahead, Pogacar also has his sights set on conquering all five of cycling’s monuments. He already boasts wins at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Il Lombardia, and the Tour of Flanders, as well as several top-five finishes at Milan-San Remo. The one that remains elusive is Paris-Roubaix, a race he has yet to attempt.

“There’s so much strength and luck required for that race, but I’ll give it a shot someday. Could it be 2025? Maybe. It’s a tough challenge, but not impossible,” he said, leaving the door open for future attempts. He also hinted at personal growth this year, stating, “I’ve been working a lot off the bike, and I think there’s still room to improve.”
