Tadej Pogacar’s Teammate Hit by a Car Ahead of World Championships
One of Tadej Pogacar’s Teammates for the World Championships Struck by a Car
As Slovenia gears up for the World Championships with star riders Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic, their preparation has hit an unexpected setback. While Pogacar and Roglic are set to lead in the hilly race, their support may be compromised after two incidents involving key teammates. Matej Mohoric’s participation was already in doubt following a crash, and now Luka Mezgec has been struck by a car just days before the race.
Mezgec, a rider for Team Jayco AlUla and a member of Slovenia’s national team, shared the news on Instagram with the caption “Burned one of those cat’s lives,” following the incident. Despite the severity of the crash, which left his bike under the wheel of the car, Mezgec fortunately escaped with only minor knee scratches.
Although his injuries were relatively minor, Mezgec’s participation in the upcoming road race in Zurich remains uncertain. However, it appears likely that he will still be able to race in support of Pogacar and Roglic, both of whom are major contenders for the World Championships title.
