Tottenham are concerned about Son Heung-min’s injury after seeing disturbing video
Son Heung-min scored a screamer in South Korea to continue his Tottenham Hotspur form and put Singapore to the sword – but he went down injured, raising concerns.
Ange Postecoglou has used Harry Kane as an out-and-out striker, with the 31-year-old scoring eight goals in 12 Premier League games. Son had a disappointing season under Antonio Conte last year but is now shining as the main man once more.
The forward scored a left-footed shot from just outside the box in South Korea’s first World Cup qualifier to give his team a three-goal lead. The strike was the pick of the bunch as Taegeuk Warriors thrashed Singapore 5-0 to kick off their season, with Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan also scoring.
Spurs fans’ hearts sank, however, when Son was injured after a late tackle on him by Shah Shahiran. The forward writhed around in pain after the challenge, but he finished the game. Jurgen Klinsmann has yet to provide an update, and Tottenham fans will be hoping for good news.
Meanwhile, China and Thailand are the other two countries in Group C in qualifying, making South Korea the clear favorite to reach the 2026 finals. They have qualified for every edition since 1982, with their most successful tournament being a semi-final finish as co-hosts in 2002.
Son, who was named Tottenham captain at the start of the season, has been lauded as a national treasure and will be attempting to qualify for his fourth World Cup. He struggled last year in Qatar, failing to score while wearing a protective mask after undergoing facial surgery.
